DESCRIPTION. PRODUCT NO. 297-X X-TREME is a stain resistant, highly adhesive primer for new and existing roofing systems. PRODUCT NO. 297-X X-TREME is a waterproof membrane ideal for areas with low spots that are prone to standing water. PRODUCT NO. 297-X X-TREME should be used as a base coat, not being left exposed to the suns UV rays for extended periods of time.

USES. PRODUCT NO. 297-X X-TREME is to be used as a base coat primer over most substrates including EPDM, TPO, PVC, spray polyurethane foam, Hypalon, asphalt, tar, hot-applied built-up roofing, granulated cap sheet, steel, and aluminum roofing substrates. PRODUCT NO. 297-X X-TREME is not recommended to be used as a fabric saturant when installing fabric overlay systems.

SURFACE PREPARATION. Roof substrates must be clean, dry, free of all debris, and any contaminates which would impede proper adhesion. A pressure wash is recommended, if a pressure washer is not available a cleaning agent should be used in conjunction with hose and broom washing. In addition to pressure washing, a wire brush should be used to remove any surface rust on metal roofing systems. Metal panels where the structural integrity has been compromised should be removed and replaced with like panels. A bleach and water solution (1 part bleach to 2 parts water) should be used to treat any roof areas that have mildew or algae. All roof surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and allowed to dry completely prior to application of any Tucson Rubberized Coatings restoration products

APPLICATION. Proper protective clothing and PPE should be worn when applying products. It is normal to see a small amount of separation when first opening a pail. If necessary, gently mix the product with a roller frame or paddle mixer, being careful to not introduce air into the product during mixing. Product can be applied by roller (3/8 – 3/4″ nap), brush, and spray equipment capable of 2000 – 3000 PSI and 1 – 3 GPM of output. For best results when spraying, an 8-28 – 8-31 reversible spray is recommended. Do not dilute product. Tucson Rubberized Coatings Products should not be applied when freezing temperatures or rain is expected within 24 hours of completed application. During application, roof surface temperatures should be between 40 and 115 degrees Fahrenheit, with no moisture present. PRODUCT NO. 297-X X- TREME must be coated within 24 – 48 hours to avoid premature film degradation.

RECOMMENDED COVERAGE RATES (completed in 2 coats): Product should be applied at a minimum rate of .5 – .75 gallon per 100 square feet of roof surface, per coat. to avoid prolonged cure times, PRODUCT NO. 670 X-TREME should not be applied at a rate greater than 1 gallon per 100 square feet of roof surface per coat. Coverage rates will depend on the porosity of the roofing substrate

New Coating to a TPO RV Roof.. Wow this stuff is sticky!

    Jordan (verified owner)

So I’ll start off by saying I’m not a professional roofer.. I’m just a guy re-coating the TPO roof on my RV..
Now, onto the product. This 297x MAX adhesive primer is literally just that. It is almost like a 5gal pail of super glue it is so sticky.
Needless to say be extra careful with this stuff when applying..

Personally the coverage rate of .5-1gal/100sq ft was FAR beyond what I needed to produce a proper adhesion layer on my TPO roof, it being a non-porous material. I started out trying to go a bit on the thicker side but then realized thinner coats were ideal, and for a 220sq ft roof I only used about .5gal in total for 2 coats.. it goes a very long way on non-porous substrates.

Overall a great product and with potentially many uses.
Thanks Tucson Rubberized. Always good service and quality products.
