Product 353 Specification Sheet

DESCRIPTION: Cool-Coat roof coating is an acrylic polymer elastomeric roof emulsion. A premium coating designed for maximum protection against sun and weather. The reflective value of this product helps to reduce interior temperature and protects the roof and roofing membrane by reducing heat absorption, asphalt oxidation and rapid thermal dimensional changes. It also decreases the chance of excessive loads placed on cooling equipment.
USES: Cool-Coat roof coating is a premium product formulated to have exceptional adhesion and durability over polyurethane foam roof surfaces. Used to provide a durable, water resistant, decorative and energy saving finish for foam roofs and most other sound roof surfaces. May be used over de-greased or weathered concrete, cured cold applied asphalt coatings, smooth surface roofings, most prepared mineral surfaced roofings and hot-mopped built-up roofing.
SURFACE PREPARATION: A clean surface is absolutely essential for proper adhesion of this material. All dirt and unsound accumulations must be removed. Use a good quality chlorinated compound to remove any mildew or algae which may be present. Rinse with water. Where necessary, use brooming and high pressure water hosing to clean the base surface. Allow water to completely dry before proceeding. Roof substrate must drain within 48 hours. (1)Built-up Roofing: Must be 1 month old or more. Clean and prime first with 1 gallon per 100 square feet primer and allow to dry before application of finished white surfacing. (2)Granule Surface: Must be clean, sound surface with no loose or foreign material. (3)Metal Roofs: It is important to wire brush and remove rust areas and prime with rust inhibiting primer. All fasteners must be tightly secured or replaced and encapsulated with 501-W Patching Compound. All roof seams and flashings must be covered with 501-W Patching Compound and membrane reinforcement. (4)Polyurethane Foam Roofs: Apply directly over new or existing white coating.
APPLICATION: Stir in container until uniform in color and consistency. For Brushing: Use a soft nylon bristle broom or brush and apply with long even strokes. Avoid over-brushing. Do not attempt to retouch while film is drying. Wait until cured before applying 2nd coat. For Roller: Medium to long nap for textured or rough surfaces. For Spray: Airless spray system with a minimum working pressure of 3000 PSI. Coverage rates will vary depending on porosity of surface as well as roof pitch. One coat can suffice. However, two coats are recommended for maximum reflectivity, durability and life cycles. Recommended Coverage Rates: (1)Mineral Surfaced Roll Roofing – 3 gal/ 100sq. ft.; (2)Metal Roofing – 1 to 2 gal/100sq. ft.; (3)Concrete Tile or Smooth Roll Roofing – 1.5 to 2 gal/100sq. ft. Recommended application is two coats (1/2 of above coverages for each coat) applied at right angles to previous coat by brush, roller or spray. First coat must dry before second coat is applied. During application, keep tools clean and free from coating build up by rinsing frequently with water. Do not apply over uncured cold applied asphalt coating, wooden shingles, shakes, flood coats of hot melt asphalt or coal tar, or bare or rusted steel. Asphalt must be dull, not glossy. Do not apply unless temperature is 50°F and rising. Do not apply when rain or frost is forecast within 24 hours after application. Conditions of high humidity will prevent curing in the usual four hours. Avoid heavy foot traffic. KEEP PRODUCT FROM FREEZING. DO NOT APPLY to any surfaces that contain SILICONE.
CLEAN-UP: Clean brushes, tools and other equipment with soapy water immediately after use. Dried film may require paint remover.

DESCRIPTION: Dura-Coat roof coating is an ultra-white 100% acrylic elastomeric roof coating. A premium grade coating designed for maximum protection against sun and weather. Its bright finish enables it to reflect the sun’s heat and harmful UV rays. This product forms a thick, rubber-like shield that expands and contracts over 300% to prevent roof damage. It resists cracking, peeling, and mildew while offering unbeatable weatherproof protection and excellent resistance to lifting under ponding water conditions.
USES: Dura-Coat roof coating can be used over mineral surface roofing, aged aluminum, tar, asphalt, or hot-applied built-up roofing after application of Product #210 emulsion. All large cracks and seams should be reinforced with woven glass fabric embedded into Product #210. (on E.P.D.M. roofs, embed membrane over any large crack or seams into Product #6000). This product can be directly applied over most previously white-coated sound roof surfaces. Product #6000 is highly recommended for E.P.D.M. roofs or areas subject to unusually severe moisture conditions such as valleys, around roof drains, low spots or in any area where water is expected to be trapped on a roof.
SURFACE PREPARATION: All surfaces must be dry and free of dust, oil loose granules, gravel or peeling paint and all other foriegn matter. Rusty metal must be cleaned with a wire brush and primed with Product #101 Asphalt primer prior to application of Product #210 emulsion and Product #6000 Dura-Coat roof coating. Polyurethane Foam Roofs: Prime surface with #295 Surface conditioner prior to application of Product #6000. Pressure washing surfaces is recommended for best results. Surfaces with any mildew growth or stains should be cleaned with a bleach solution (2 parts water to one part bleach) prior to applying this product. Be certain all surfaces are thouroughly rinsed and dry prior to applying coating.
APPLICATION: Material should be stirred in the container and applyed by a soft bristle brush or broom, a long nap roller or suitable spray equipment. Airless spray system with a minimum working pressure of 3000 PSI. Coverage rates will vary depending on porosity of surface as well as roof pitch. Recommended application is two coats applied at right angles to previous coat by brush, roller or spray for maximum reflectivity, durability and life cycles. First coat must dry before second coat is applied. During application, keep tools clean and free from coating build up by rinsing frequently with water. Adequate protection for most surfaces is obtained by the use of two gallons of Dura-Coat Roof Coating per 100 sq. ft. applied in two coats. As a complete roofing tystiem this product should be applied at a rate of 5 gallons per 100 sp. ft. applied in two coats. Allow 24 to72 hours depending on weather conditions and applications rate of curing prior to application of second coat. Do not apply unless temperature is 55°F and rising. Do not apply when rain or frost is forecast within 24 hours after application. Conditions of high humidity will prevent curing in the usual four hours. Avoid heavy foot traffic. KEEP PRODUCT FROM FREEZING. DO NOT APPLY to any surfaces that contain SILICONE.
