Product 300 Specification Sheet
Description: Bright Coat Aluminum Paint is
a quality, reflective, non-fibered coating with a myriad of aluminum flakes
suspended in a tough and flexible vehicle of selected asphalt and solvent.
Upon application the aluminum flakes leaf to the surface to form a
reflective metal shield that insulates against winter moisture.
Directions: Surface Preparation: All
surfaces should be dry, clean, smooth, and in good repair. Surface
temperatures should be 50° F or warmer, not to exceed 104° F. Priming is
not normally required and should be used only if and as recommended by the
manufacturer. In cold weather, store product in a heated room (65° F to
80° F) at least 24 hours prior to coating. When the coating is applied to
an asphalt coated surface, it is suggested that the surface have at least
the equivalent of one complete summer of weathering. Applications to new
asphalt coated surfaces may result in bleed-through and alligatoring. DO NOT
THIN. STIR CONTENTS WELL BEFORE AND DURING USE AS REQUIRED. The aluminum
pigment and filler settle out; thorough stirring is necessary to re-disperse
these components prior to use. The container should be tightly sealed to
prevent solvent evaporation and to keep out moisture. Water may react with
aluminum pigment to produce hydrogen gas, and explosion hazard.
Application: Apply coating evenly by
brush on asphalt, metal or composition roofs. Spread in both horizontal and
vertical directions, overlapping ends of strokes. Avoid excessive build up
or puddling. When brushing avoid scraping into existing roof surface. All
finish strokes should be made in the same direction. Due to irregular and
different types of surfaces, recommended coverage rates are approx.: Mineral
Surface Roofing, 1 gal. per 100 sq. ft.; Smooth Surface and Metal Roofing,
1/2 gal. per 100 sq. ft. Avoid foot traffic until firmly set. DO NOT APPLY
IF RAIN IS IMMINENT.
Note: It is not recommended for use on
wood, severely weathered asphalt shingles, coal tar surfaces, or roofs with
slopes less than 1% (or 1/8" per ft.) because standing water dulls the
aluminum and may cause adhesion failure between the coating and substrate.
Application to steep slopes may result in some running in the coating.
