Description: Rubberized Emulsion Mastic is an elastomeric asphalt emulsion which has excellent adhesion to most substrates in good condition. The dried coating can resist the carious thermal stresses typically found in roofing systems due to this coating’s elastomeric properties.
Uses: Rubberized Emulsion is used as a COMPONENT in the construction of a cold process roofing system. It is used over a properly prepared and restricted set of substrates in conjunction with recommended fabrics of coated membranes. It is not to be used as a coating over gravel roofs that have not been thoroughly stripped and repaired.
Surface Preparation: Surfaces to be coated must be cleaned thoroughly of all scales, loose mortar, rust, oil, grease and all foreign matter using a wire brush, sand blast, vacuuming and other methods in keeping with good practice. Dusty or porous masonry should be primed with Asphalt Primer and allowed to dry thoroughly before coating with emulsion.
Application: MIX THOROUGHLY UNTIL SMOOTH. This product may be roller applied, soft brush applied, or airless spray applied. Airless spray equipment should not use less than an 0.060 inch spray tip. The normal application is at the rate of 1 gallon per 100 sq. ft. over metal roofs without fabrics. All other applications should be over smooth roof membranes at 2 gals. per 100 sq. ft. per coat. When used in conjunction with reinforcement membrane the application rate is 5 gals./100 sq. ft. Not recommended for use over gravel or vacuumed graveled roof areas due to unsuitable rough surface area.
Clean-Up: Equipment and brushes may be cleaned with water and soap while still wet, or by using suitable solvents such as mineral spirits, kerosene or petroleum naphtha when dry. Use care in handling these solvents.
